Scientific Program

AOFKA 2025

Motto and focus topics

The AOFKA covers all areas of surface and solid state analysis and focuses on the application of the latest instrumental methods in basic research as well as in applied research and technology. The conference will provide information on the manifold research activities in this field through invited lectures and oral and poster presentations by the participating scientists.

This year, the organizers of AOFAK2025 in Kaiserslautern are holding the conference under the motto

“Applied Surface and Solid State Analysis for Future Technologies"

This is intended to emphasize the important position of the cross-sectional discipline of “analytics” for future scientific challenges in research and development. In particular, AOFKA2025 will focus on the following topics

- Electro mobility & battery technology
- hydrogen technology
- Research for sustainable technologies

The traditional AOFKA key topics such as
Advanced Materials / Surface Science & Imaging / Thin Films & Batteries / Biomaterials /
Nanostructures & Quantum Materials / Depth Profiling Analysis / Microanalysis & Imaging / Ion Methods (FIB, SIMS, SNMS) /
Photon Methods (LA-ICP-MS, LIBS, XRF, XAFS) / Electron Methods (XPS, EPR, SEM/TEMs)
will of course not disappear, but will be fully and appropriately integrated into the various key topics.

Key note lectures

The 3 main topics will be spread over the 3 days of the event, each with two keynote speeches, one accentuated from the perspective of industry and the other from the perspective of science and research.

A special highlight of the conference is certainly the plenary lecture at the beginning of the program, on the occasion of this year's 50th anniversary of the two conference series AOFA and FKA, from which the current AOFKA evolved.

This anniversary speech will be presented by the Professors Kopnarski (Kaiserslautern) and Friedbacher (Vienna), who themselves organized the two meetings as conference chairs for many years in the past, in the form of a relaxed discussion with certainly some personal anecdotes

Invited speakers

Each lecture block starts with an invited speaker on the appropriate topic of the day

Talks and posters

After the morning keynote sessions, the following thematic lecture blocks will each start with an invited speaker. This speaker will come from a scientific background and have the relevant technical and scientific expertise to meet the requirements of the scientific character of the AOFKA.

Based on the planning to date, eight invited speakers will enrich the conference program, two each from the fields of “Electromobility & Batteries” and “Hydrogen Technologies” and four from the more general part of “Research for Sustainable Technologies”.

The numerous contributions to AOFKA2025 that are expected to be submitted will be allocated to the individual lecture sessions according to topic. Of course, there will also be a poster session for you as a participant.
